Owó Ẹyọ means cowrie shells in Yoruba. In pre-colonial Yoruba society, cowrie shells were the primary form of legal currency, which is why the word Owó (money) originates from them.
When combining Ewe Omisinmisin Pelebe, Owó (Money), and Owó Ẹyọ (Cowries), you are looking at the foundational ingredients for advanced traditional Yoruba wealth, business attraction, and Aje (Goddess of Wealth) spiritual preparations.
The Spiritual Significance of Owó Ẹyọ in Rituals
  • The Magnet of Old Money: Because cowries were historical currency, they are spiritually treated as an "ancestral magnet" for physical cash, financial abundance, and prosperous trading.
  • Perforated vs. Unperforated: Traditional practices differentiate the shells. Perforated cowries (backless or chipped) are called Owó Ẹyọ and are used for currency/trade attraction. Unperforated, solid cowries are called Owó Ero and are typically used for calming rituals or protection.
How They Are Combined for Financial Attraction (Awure / Iferan Owo)
  • The Attraction Perfume Mixture:
A common method involves taking a specific number of Owó Ẹyọ (often 3, 7, 9, or 16 depending on the exact recipe), grinding them into a fine powder alongside dried Omisinmisin Pelebe leaves and Eso Oju Ologbo (Cat's Eye seeds). This powder is poured inside a spiritual oil or perfume (like Onalia or Divine Grace), allowed to sit for 3 to 7 days, and sprayed before business dealings to pull financial favors.
  • The Business Doorstop / Cashbox Placement:
Real, whole cowrie shells are often washed with the liquid squeezed out of fresh Omisinmisin leaves and coconut water. These consecrated cowries are then placed at the bottom of a business cash register, safe, or purse to ensure that money "circulates and returns" to the owner
